    Ubuntu start menu for Kubuntu

    Hi

Is it possible to have the Ubuntu start menu for Kubuntu? By Ubuntu start menu I mean the start menu in the classic Genome, the one which is on the left top and you have access to your programs, settings and drives.

    Thank You

    Hi and welcome to KFN.

Try one of these, I think all should be in the repositories, or installed by default.

      Tell a bit more...

Is it possible to have the Ubuntu start menu for Kubuntu? By Ubuntu start menu I mean the start menu in the classic Genome,..
How 'classic' do you mean ?

      The classicmenu-indicator:
      :~$ apt-cache show classicmenu-indicator
      ...
Description: indicator showing the main menu from Gnome Classic
classicmenu-indicator displays the main menu from Gnome2/Gnome Classic
      Homepage: http://www.florian-diesch.de/softwar...enu-indicator/
With the KDE you need: classicmenu-indicator, gnome-menus. python-setuptools.

      Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
      1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts

Hi Jonas, right-click on the desktop and unlock the widgets. Next, right-click the Kmenu launch icon on your panel and remove it. . Next click on the new acorn that appeared on the right of your panel. Select Add Widgets... In the row that appears, double-click on the Kmenu that is that is on the right. It looks just like the one you just double-clicked on, and the one you removed, but contains the 'Classic Menu'. It will still appear as Kmenu, but should give you what you want when you open it. Click the X to close the 'Add Widget' bar, and right-click the desktop and lock your widgets. Now click on your Kmenu panel Icon and see if it is what you want. Hope this helps. By the way, new technology is usually an improvement. I believe if you gave the newer panel a try for a couple of weeks, you would never want to change back. It takes a little while to get used to, but is much faster and easier to use, once you are familiar. Just my personal opinion. The other Launcher is great too.
