    no sound in headphone jack

I found this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1650492 recommending that I create a module conf file based on what I find in /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt.

    However:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC262 Analog [ALC262 Analog]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

And in the Audio Models file

    ALC262
    ======
    N/A

    Am I hooped on this?

    Thanks

I dont think so ,,,,but we dont have enough info yet to know

I'll assume that is a aplay -l output you posted , and if so it looks like your sound is recognized .

befor asking for the output of any comands I will ask some basicks ........do you have any sound at all ?
is this a laptop or desktop? , if desktop do you have more than 1 sound card ,,,,like a built into the MOBO sound and a sound card ?

what is the make and model of your laptop/desktop?

the link you posted is kinda old 2010 ........so.

      Thanks Vinny.

I have sound through the laptop speakers in Kubuntu 12.04, and in Windows 7 also through the headphone jack. I was previously running Kubuntu and Ubuntu 10.04 without this problem.

      Laptop Sony Vaio FW5200.

      Thanks again.

Try opening up alsamixer in a terminal. Make sure that all your volume levels for all sound devices are up and unmuted.

Done. It looks normal. The jack column is all the way up. When I plug in the phones the speaker goes to the bottom but the jack stays high.

I am also having this problem. I have sound though the speakers just fine but no sound from either headphones port.
            aplay -l output:
            Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CA0132 Analog [CA0132 Analog]
              Subdevices: 0/1
              Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: CA0132 Digital [CA0132 Digital]
              Subdevices: 1/1
              Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
              Subdevices: 1/1
              Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
              Subdevices: 1/1
              Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
              Subdevices: 1/1
              Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 | grep Codec output:
            Code:
            Codec: Creative CA0132
I recently updated to the mainstream 3.9.3-030903-generic kernel so that I could even have sound. I do have sound through the speakers but no sound through either of the headphones ports.
            Headphones in.
