    Icon Themes

The KDE (Kubuntu) is using the freedesktop icon theme specification: http://standards.freedesktop.org/ico...ec-latest.html .

The icon themes which are compatible with the specification can be installed from the KDE system settings (KDE System Settings > Applications Appearance > Icons > Get New Themes / Install Theme File) : http://userbase.kde.org/System_Setti...ion_Appearance -> http://userbase.kde.org/System_Setti...pearance#Icons .

Making / Editing a Icon theme

    A start point: http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthr...al)-icon-theme

    The Plex

The Plex (plex_by_cornmanthe3rd-d4qvvwm.zip) is a collection of icon images (.ico). These can be converted to the png images and used as the base of an icon theme.
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts

I am not the most qualified, but you are getting little help, so here is a try. (By the way, I don't currently have access to my Kubuntu OS and am having to reply using Windows 7, so I can not make specific suggestions to get to a proper System Settings entry right now.) Anyway, if you haven't tried this, right-click on the icon you would like to change. Select whatever the option is to modify the settings. If the current Icon appears in the upper right part of the opened box, click on it. All the current Kubuntu Icons will appear. You can change to a more appropriate one by just clicking on your choice.

If that answer doesn't help, you might look in the root directory and find where the current icons are stored. Once you know the folder, you can get on the internet, find the icons that suit your needs, or convert png's of pictures you like and make various icon sizes out of the pictures, then put them in the Icon folder. They should become added to your list of choices. I am a rookie user myself, but I have successfully done this for myself in the past. By the way, Gimp makes great Icons. Hope this helps, or at least gives you something to think about.
