    Task Manager appearance

My eyes are not as good as they used to be, and it's hard for me to read the names of programs minimized to the task manager. Also, the icons lose their color. I see no way to tweak this in the settings, but surely there is a way?

    TIA...

I am not positive if this will help you or not, but try changing the font size in Kmenu>Applications>Settings>System Settings>Application Appearance>Fonts, you might want to try "Adjust All Fonts", check the box for Size, and start with 16 then Apply. It will change all your system fonts to size 16, making everything more readable. If you like it but not on everything, you can change font size, for instance, on menu to make them bigger or smaller. My operating system is Kubuntu 12.10, so if you are using a different distribution you might not have the same choices. Nonetheless you may, so try it. From now on, when you post, it would be better if you mentioned your Version of Kubuntu and KDE. It helps a little. I checked and my task manager fonts changed, so it should work. If you are using an older version of Kubuntu, I have been using Kubuntu 12.10 since it was available. It is the most stable distribution of Kubuntu I have ever used.
