Go to http://kde-look.org and download a theme. Make sure you save it to somewhere you know you can easily access, like in your users home directory. Then open up kcontrol and go to Look & Feel -> Themes and then click the Install New Theme button. Navigate to where you saved the file from the site, click on it, click OK and Voila, your new theme should be installed.

Awesome, i've also been looking everywhere for a straight up answer to this. I think people tend to dismiss what's usually obvious, but for us newer folks its good to know.

I am a newbie. Can one download the new edgy theme from Ubuntu and use it in Kubuntu? I love the warm colors of Ubuntu.

This might be a bit of a help to you. It includes instructions on which sections of KDE-Look to go to.
