Occasional Issue -> Booting To Terminal Window Instead Of Login Screen

    Greetings,

I occasionally boot up to a terminal window rather than the graphical login window. I will be prompted for my username and password which I will enter, and then I'll type: 'sudo reboot', simply because I don't know what else to do.

Is there a command I could type at that prompt insead of 'reboot' that would bring me to the graphical login window? I'm using encryption, so it's a bit of a pain to reboot every time. Thanks!

Not sure where to start. I don't know if I'm geeky enough with Linux to fix that kind of issue, though I've impressed myself a bit lately. It's an intermittant issue so I'm thinking it's probably tough to track down a solution. What do you suggest?
