I Just want to use my laptop to play music and create playlists from a Win7 server

    Greeting from a absolutely Newbie!

My apologies if this question has been raise before!

I have just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and Rhythmbox on my laptop.
Rhythmbox sees my plus 50.000 mp3 at my samba mounted Win7 server - it takes forever to index :-)!
But I cant play the music - Rhythmbox just give 1/2 sec of electronics noise - then silence!
As I understand it - there is a issue with Ubuntu/Rhythmbox/Samba/MP3!

Will I be better of with kubuntu - or is it the same issue?

Cheers - and thanks in advance

    Hello again,
I sort of solved this :-)
I changed the drive in my laptop with a spare 500GB I had - this is big enough to hold my music collection.
Made a shared folder - and my Win7 server use this for back-up!
    Viola - problem solved :-)
    Cheers

Streaming from Samba requires that you mount the share.
