no internet connection -> no install?

    Hey
I just decided to switch to KUbuntu from Windows. I downloaded an install cd and now want to install it with updates from the internet. Unfortunately I don't manage to get the Internet working on that testsystem. It is definetely no hardware-problem since it works perfectly well with my windows on the same machine.
I configured my router to run a dhcp which works fine through my whole home network, but kubuntu somehow gets 192.168.1.2 only, which should be impossible because of a different router-config.
Though I tested a static ip on the interface via ifconfig and added the dns server in the system settings, which did not work aswell, though even that setup worked on my windows.

I can not lookup hostnames on the internet nor ping an ip outside of my lan, but inside everyone is responding to my ping. It should not be a problem with my router since I am currently posting this. Do I need special drivers? Or is the install CD not capable of connecting to the internet at all? Shall I just install without updates and third party software and work on it later?

    Kubuntu 12.10, KDE 4.9.2, kernel 3.5.0-17
dmesg | grep 'Ethernet driver' gives r8169 Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded

What kind of internet do you have? Did you actually install or did you only try to configure your connection during installation? Ive never been able to get my internet connection working during installation. I install and then use the shell program pppoeconf to configure my connection.

I don't know if this is still helpful but the network-problem still was there after installation. I could solve it by connecting the computer to the internet via an old WLAN-Stick and run the auto-updater. After that, everything worked fine...
      But still thanks for help.
