How do I save my current email records to install in a new install of Kubuntu 12.10?

It's been a while and I forgot how to save my kmail records to restore in a new installation of Kubuntu 12.10 64bit. Thanks for any help.

Select a folder. Then menubar > Folder > Archive Folder. Alternatively you could just a stand alone tool that is in the repos I think (Recommended route.) Lastly you could just manually copy the file.

To b honest you can just copy your home across.

I lost the records on the last install. When you say the menubar, do you mean the panel on the desktop of the menubar on the Kmail application? If I create a folder can I name it Kmail2012? Will the Addressbook be included? Can you save the current configuration of KDE4 so that I don't have to reconfigure everything?

I currently keep all the boot files in a separate partition. My home partition is a complete HDD. Nevertheless, apparently Kmail is not stored in my current /home drive, because I thought it was last time and lost my records, bookmarks, and address book. I would like to retain most of my records on the new distribution when I install the new OS.

Just before getting this reply, I opened the 'MyStuff' folder in Kmail and copied them to a folder in my /home directory. I also copied my sent folder, however I could not find an addressbook that I could copy and paste. I may have saved some of the records I lost last time.

When you said I could just copy my /home across, my home is not even on the same partition. And how would you do that? Don't you format all the data contained within root when you prepare the computer for the new distribution? And if Kmail is stored on the root partition and that is formatted, how can I then move the archive? Could you clearify this; I am tired of being so stupid any longer. Thanks!
