If you have copied text output that contains formatting (colors, highlighting, etc.), please do not enclose it in QUOTE or CODE tags. Just right-click your mouse and choose "Paste Without Formatting" or similar (Paste as plain text).
Are you using the Live CD version ? If so, have you tried downloading the 'alternate CD' version and trying with it ?
Also, did you md5sum the downloaded ISO image *before* you burned it to CD, and also did you md5sum check the burned ISO image on the CD ? Is the CD scratched or cracked or anything ?
I found that the installer got stuck too.
After creating the partitions and writing them to disk, it failed to progress so I couldn't allocate mount points.
I rebooted and started again from scratch, and second time round it recognised the new partitions and allowed me to set mount points on them.
