    Mouse "half clicks"

I recently changed my work VM from Debian with KDE 4.4 to Kubuntu with KDE 4.4.
I have a logitech T650 touchpad, however, since Kubuntu runs in a VM, it just counts as a generic mouse.
Under Debian/KDE and under windows, it interprets a tap as a click. Since the switch to Kubuntu, however, it seems to half click on a light tap, and then I have to move the pointer to continue the click, or click more intensely. The fact that it took the light tap plus mouse movement made me think KDE might be interpreting it a gesture.
I looked under the mouse settings and gestures for anything that might be causing this, but couldn't find anything. Under the KDE control panel, there is no entry for touchpad, so I can't do anything there.

    Any Ideas?

Have you installed the guest additions in the vm?

I installed VMWare tools for both OSes.

I just ran xinput test and got some strange results that make me think I'm not going crazy:
        This is from a "click":
        button press 1
        button release 1
This is from a tap & release:
        button press 1
This is from touching the pad again and moving laterally:
        motion a[0]=42139 a[1]=24310
        button release 1
        motion a[0]=42178 a[1]=24310
        motion a[0]=42217 a[1]=24310
        motion a[0]=42256 a[1]=24310
        motion a[0]=42295 a[1]=24310
So for some reason, X is not catching my tap-release.
