My notebook is a Dell Latitude D820 with a 15.6 inch monitor, an Intel Centrino Duo-core x86_64 processor model 15 1GHz with 4 Gig of Ram and a 320Gb hard drive. The monitor is a 15.6" and is driven by Nvidia Quatro NVS 120 drivers.
I just upgraded from Natty to 12.10 with KDE 4.9.3 and GRUB 0.97-29 last night and the problem showed up right away.
My problem is the "natural setting " for my monitor is a LVDS 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz. I need to change it to 1024x768 or 1200x800 because my eyesight is bad and I can barely read it at 1920x1200 even with glasses. I have gone in and edited the xorg.conf file to add other monitor sizes, but the new 12.10 does not recognize the xorg.conf settings at all. I changed the nvidia-current-settings to updated nvidia settings, and that did not help either.
Can you tell me how to change the settings so I can read my notebook again, or do I just need to dump 12.10 and go back to natty where the drivers work fine. I am not a complete newbie, but this has got me stumped.
Thanks,
Robert
