    SMB Protocol Source

    Hi all

I've been trying Kubuntu 12.10 on my pc
But i want to see movies on this pc that are on a other ( windows based) system

But with Dragon player and VLC i hear only sound, and i see nothing,
and i have a note that he's missing SMB Protocol Source, and he can't install them

Can you help me with this problem

    Thnx

Try installing kubuntu-restricted-extras if you can hear the sound then that indicated that samba is working correctly and you have a codec issue.

      if i do:
      sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras

      then i see a screen of: ( i'm a dutch person:P ) Bezig met configureren van TTF-mscorefonts-installer
      and much text

and on the end i see <Ok> but i can't click them

Can VLC now stream over SMB, or does it still copy the entire file locally first? It's been a while since I've checked. I've always installed Smb4k to work around this problem.

I presume you mean Smb4k? If so, please provide some more detail. What errors do you see? In general, without these kinds of details, it's very difficult for us to help.

                  the nexy thing is:
                  De volgende plugin is vereist:
                  SMB Peotocol Source
                  Wilt u daar naar zoeken?

                  Zoeken --- NO

See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253547 especially the third comment.

That's odd. What's the output of
                      Code:
                      dpkg -l | awk '/smb|samba|cifs/ {print $1,$2}'
