    Getting back my Func. Keys?

    Hi,

I just recently installed Kubuntu (very cool I might add) on my laptop.

My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS920.

Is there anyway to get them back?

Also how do I go about setting the screen res to 1280x800?

Any other tips for a new to linux guy?

    Thanks.

Some sort of clue like what video chip (ATI? Nvidia? Intel? Other?) would help.

Actually I figured out the resolution, thanks though. I do have some other questions like how do I play DVD's (that I bought)? And I still can't find anything about the function keys.

<ubotu> See http://help.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/desktopguide/C/video.html. Libdvdcss can be found at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/SeveasPackages

That information comes straight from the bot in the #Kubuntu channel. You should also read:

<ubotu> The packages in Ubuntu are divided into several sections. See http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/components https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories and !easysource

Yes there is a Sony Vaio package. You can get to it clicking on the menu K (at the left end of the bottom panel) and then on "System Settings">"laptops & Power">"Sony Vaio Laptop". It's grayed out on my laptop (a, so far, unignited Dell), but I have been told that it doesn't give you your function keys.

Thanks, when I get to that window it says that make sure sonypi driver module loads without failures?

Also, if that doesn't give me back my function keys, how do I change the screen brightness, change the sound from the keyboard, etc?
