How to get stereo playback of music

I have a creative extreme music X-Fi sound card connected to a set of 5.1 speakers.
Sound works fine.
When playing back music using Amarok I would like to limit playback to front left and front right speakers ( maybe also Sub ).
So I get proper stereo, no sound coming from Centre, rear left and rear right.
Is this possible?
I've looked at settings in Amarok and Phonon but can't see any obvious setting to change.

Try disabling the upmixing/remixing in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf by enabling the line "enable-remixing = no", then restart pulseaudio.
