    usb ports ,install failure?

Hi all , I have just installed onto my laptop, dual boot for now , want to learn how to use linux before I give ole Mr gates the heave ho..
everything seems to run fine so far bar the usb , anything plugged should be automatically recognised according to the blurb...
I have tried My web cam , flash drive and My digital camera...nothing so far ...
I am totally clueless as far as linux is concerned,
how do I check that he usb ports are set up correctly.
cheers in advance , any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: usb ports ,install failure?

Actually, your problem may be related to one that some other people have had. Try this. Plug something in, preferably your flash drive so that we avoid other possible problems. Then reboot with the flash drive plugged in. See if it shows up. Another, simpler, possibility start "System Settings" (K>SystemSettings) then go to Desktop>Behavior and click on the Device Icons tab. Make sure the icons for all your devices are checked for both mounted and unmounted.
