Is my keyboard defective or is this a software or configuration problem?

When typing, keys repeat irradically. Backspace doesn't always react properly. The problem is persistent.

This problem is solved. I am a bit embarrassed, because the problem was so unusual to me and easy to fix. All I had to do to repair the problem was to reset the default settings. I guess I was just frustrated by how much editing I had to do to get the post in place in the first place. Sorry for wasting anyone's time.
