    can't install Catalyst drivers

    hi guys,

ok i have tried to use the built in ati drivers and i get the jockey bug which i just found out,but i have also tried to use the command line using the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI but still doesn't work.

    5. Generate a fresh xorg.conf BEFORE REBOOTING!

sudo aticonfig --initial I get command not found
    or

sudo amdconfig --initial I get command not found

If you are using multiple AMD/ATI graphics cards or ATI/ATI dual graphics (i.e.: notebook users), use

sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial I even tried this and get command not found
    or

sudo amdconfig --adapter=all --initial I even tried this and get command not found
    6. Reboot again.

    7. To confirm the drivers are working open a terminal and type:

fglrxinfo I get command not found
You should get an output similar to the following:

    fglrxinfo
    display: :0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6300M Series
OpenGL version string: 4.2.11733 Compatibility Profile Context

    when doing
    sudo sh amd-driver-installer-12-6-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise

I get thisReading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
dh-make is already the newest version.
execstack is already the newest version.
dh-modaliases is already the newest version.
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

      Can you do:
      Code:
      dpkg -l | grep fglrx
      And post the output here?

According to this, you installed both from AMD script and through package-manager:
              See this:
              http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...talyst.2Ffglrx
You might need to do this
              Code:
              sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh --force
              instead
              Code:
              sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh
              sigpic

                Code:
                sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh --force
just a warning if you use this code you wont be able to use the GUI login so click on the shut down icon and then from the menu use the command line option

also a good idea would be to write down or have another way to access the web (eg; a smart phone) http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...talyst.2Ffglrx and follow the Removing Catalyst/fglrx section

Well, you need to remove that AMD's script, and any fglrx package installed, and then re-install fglrx through package manager.
Also, i don't know why you wouldn't have GUI? There's still OSS drivers available when you remove fglrx.

sorry for the late reply but real life, anyway I have tried it numerous times and I still have the same issue it will download and install fine from what I can tell but it won't launch GUI at start-up and even if I do all this while in the GUI it has the same issue at start-up again.

also I'm still getting the jockey error after changing it through the Additional Drivers window and if you have to restart the system the GUI won't start,at least I can use the command line and uninstall it all,so for now till it is fixed I'm can only use the default ATI Radeon driver.
