    Kubuntu not detecting VGA

In the past I've connected my laptop to my tv mounted on the wall above me as an extra monitor through a VGA cable.
Since I've switched to Linux though, my computer won't detect the tv anymore.
Below is a list of devices connected that linux detects.

    Code:
    chris@chris-HP-Pavilion-dv6700-Notebook-PC:~$ lspci

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
I considered that I didn't have the appropriate drivers [GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M] but nvidia did not have drivers for linux for my device.
I tried checking their forums but they seem to be down.
If anybody could help or offer any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you for your time.

with the tv conected to the laptop and turned on and on the vga input go to system settings>display and monitor>size and orientation and see if it shows as connected if so click the size drop down pick an appropriate size then click the position drop down and chose one then click apply.

if it dose not show as connected go to applications>system>additional drivers and see if it offers you some.

      try something like
      xrandr --output CRT1 --auto
I always do this rather than go to display settings. I've made it a script fixcrt.sh
