    Restore Original Desktop Folder

Ok so when I first installed Kubuntu, for some reason I deleted the Desktop folder. The other day I thought it would provide more organization if I set my desktop(which was already using the folder view style) to use the Desktop folder, so I simply created a new folder named Desktop with in my home folder. So I went in to Folder View Settings and instead of using a custom path pointing to the "Desktop" folder I created, I set it to the default setting "Use my Desktop folder. The problem is when I set this, it seems to be using my home folder, which is not what I want. So is there some way to recreate a proper Desktop folder with in my home folder?

Maybe System Settings > Account Details > Paths, and set the Desktop path.

Thanks maybe I misunderstood something here but how is that different then what I was doing previously?

        When you said:

I thought the default path to Desktop (in System Settings) might be wrong or missing.

Is there anything in your Desktop folder? I set my desktop to Folder View, pointed to the Desktop folder, and nothing seemed to happen. Then I copied a file into that folder and it showed up on my desktop.

Ah System Settings, sorry I thought you said Folder Settings. I checked and indeed it had the Desktop path set as my home folder, so I corrected it and tried adjusting the Folder view option back to a path, then back to the "Use my Desktop" but it still uses my home folder. I am going to log out and log back in as I suspect that will fix it. I will update here in a few.

After logging out and logging back in, sure enough my desktop folder is functioning as if it were the original desktop folder. Thanks for the tip, but for some reason my autostart path changed. It prompted me if I wanted to save and I said discard, but it saved anyways. Can some one tell me what the default autostart path is?

I don't think I've changed mine, so I assume this is the default: /home/yourusernamehere/.kde/Autostart/

There is also the Defaults button on the Paths page, if you're feeling lucky/adventurous.

Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious to me lol. I some how always miss that button, but when I went back to set it, I guess it didn't change the setting after all. I guess it reverted after logging out but thanks for the info anyways. That is the correct path.
