Sound Card Issue post 12.04 upgrade.

    Hi All,

Basically , i'm seeing two cards available via alsamixer tool.

    1. HDA Intel PCH (Default sound card that is selected)
    2. HDA Nvidia

even if i choose the HDA Nividia sound card in alsamixer, that setttings are not getting saved. If i open the alsamixer again the HDA Intel PCH is card is still selected as sound card.

My system sound settings are behaving strangely post upgrade to 12.04 version.

there is no system default beep sounds if i choose HDA nvidia as a sound card. Also there is no sound in vlc player if i change the audio device from default to HDA Nvidia, HDMI 0 output.

Whereas with the HDA Intel PCH sound card settings, the system's default beep sounds are working, but in vlc player there is few disturbance in the sound. for seconds it's going mute and coming back. This is frustating.

So please let me know which is recommended sound card (that HDA Intel PCH/HDA Nvidia) in my kubuntu 12.04 desktop.

Also how can i select a sound card permamently across system and vlc media players.

    Please help me with this.

Below menioned are the list sound devices availbale in my system.
