    tv-out help?

Hey guys. I'm a total newbie (which is why I am posting in this part of the forum) to Kubuntu. I've tried looking around the net for howto's and the like, but nothing helps. Well. It sort of helps, but my tv gets no signal.

I have a nvidia 6600GT, and I have managed to get the nvidia-drivers running, even though I'm not always sure what I am doing. I want to clone the desktop over to my TV, but I don't know anything about refresh-rates and stuff. Some pages give different suggestions, but they don't tell me what to leave and the likes. Here's the xorg.conf

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Re: tv-out help?

Just some additional info. I get the splash-screen, so the nvidia-drivers are up and running, and I've run both easuubuntu and automatix. I get tv-out before kde starts up. but as soon as the nvidia-splash, the tv goes black.

      Re: tv-out help?

You only need one monitor and device section, erm, judging by your kb setting you want PAL-B, and you need some metamodes.
      Relavent sections only.......
      Code:

That sould give you 4 modes to choose from in the screen resolution settings, any 60Hz mode should clone on the TV, and the 75Hz just the monitor.

If this doesn't work I have 2 or thee fully working examples for you to play with, just ask.

        Re: tv-out help?

Thanks Teppic! Now the Nvidia settings shows a connected tv. For some reason though, I can't get into the display settings. I says that there may a third-party package-problem, or there may be a problem with KDE, when I try. With the old xorg.conf, I can get into the display settings just fine. Any suggestions?

          Try krandrtray
If not gnome-display-properties may work, but I don't know how much it depends on (if you don't allready have it.)
Oh, and try Ctrl_Alt_+ and Ctrl_Alt_- (keypad + and -)

I tried krandrtray, but it only gives me one option : 1024 x 768 / 50 hz. Weirdly enough, it looks like 640 x 480...?

Thats odd, try taking the Option "useEDID" "FALSE"
              and any unused modelines.

I've tried removing it, but it's a no-go. I can get it to show the tv in the nvidia-settings, but then I can't get into the display-settings due to some error. Any suggestions?
