    Hi...

I'm using the nvidia proprietary driver (version 195) and I received the same readout as well, "nv." That is why I gave the answer I did. I wasn't totally certain, hence the word "appears."

@jameslloyd: So you were able to get flash working?

              Hi....

So does flash work in Firefox? It shows in your plugins list. From what I have observed, both Firefox and Chromium look in the same place (for plugins.)

If not, I'm not sure what else to recommend.

              Regards...

Nope. It does not work in Firefox, even though it is listed. All there is is a black box where the video is. I am at a loss as well.

                  Hi...

Ok, this program might help to solve the problem. If you get the error mentioned at the bottom of the page, try this other page, instead.

                  Regards...

Ugh. FD crashes on startup. tried to install from second link, and crashes as well.

Found in synaptic, reinstalled and still the same issue. This is unreal.

                      Hi...

Very strange, indeed. I'm not sure what else to suggest at this point.

I am going to take the good with the bad.

My main computer is my laptop and it is great. Kubuntu with Chromium has full functionality. My desktop, which is my play box is the one that I am having the issue with. I have spent close to two weeks getting it fixed up and if the only problem is now with the machine that I cannot get Youtube videos in Chromium running, then I will call that definite progress. My original issue has been resolved. I am going to count my blessings and hopefully, 12.04 with fix my only issue.

I learned so much these past two weeks about Linux with my issues that I may be able to help some other people down the road. I know these past weeks, I have only scratched the surface with the OS.

Thank you all for everything. I am definately going to stick around.

                          I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I removed Flash, Restricted Extras with Synaptic, and everything that had to do with Flash.

I then went into Root, and autoremoved,

Then I ran in console: sudo apt-get install gnash

                          then sudo apt-get update

                          "FLASH" NOW WORKS WITH CHROMIUM!!!!!!!

                          Solved!!!!

                          Goodbye Chrome!

                            jameslloyd,
This may be too little too late, but I noticed that you made your first post on the 4th. About the same time I developed problems with Flash playbacks in Firefox. Just about the time I was getting preturbed about it and try some drastic things, I went to my terminal and ran my update/upgrade routines, as I do a couple of times a day, and I noticed it loading a lot of FlashPlayer upgrades. After that I went back to youtube and voila it worked again. Not sure what happened.

TL/DR this whole thread (glad it's marked as fixed, though).

But for Firefox, Flashaid has never let me down. And that's saying a lot.

                              Code:
Remove conflicting flash plugins from Ubuntu/Debian Linux systems, install the appropriate version according to system architecture and apply some tweaks to improve performance and fix common issues.
