    Installation Abomination

NOTE TO ALL WHO FIND THIS THREAD

Be it known that our esteemed Woodsmoke did not start this thread. The actual originator has been banned for highly vitriolic comments and his/her posts were deleted. This had the unfortunate side effect of making it appear that Woodsmoke is the originator. Thus this notice.

    Hi
Dunno.....in the several years that I have used Kubu, I've never been forced to CLI.

Apparently a lot of other people are not forced to do so either.

Since problems like this are usually hardware associated a listing of your hardware might be in order so that someone can help you with a solution.

Linux has lost one of its most fervent advocates. So go fuk yourselves, and the Libertarian horses you rode in on.
    Some advocate...

Actually, I had updates stall half way through last time I updated as well. There is definitely a problem. Ive read a couple posts on Ubuntu forums about it as well. Something fishy going on indeed....

It is unfortunate that the OP has decided that all Linux sucks because of his experience with two distros. If only there were other options.....

I can remember when the number of distros was on one sheet and we thought there were a lot! lol

And I never knew that there where Linux users back in 1985. This guy is bigger than Chuck Norris. And now he's gone down the windoze poop-hole... what a loss...

Speak for yourself. Some of us like the command line!

You might have been talking about updates only - which is OK. But for me, I've been forced to CLI on Windows. Yes. And often. If only for ping. Or ipconfig /all. Or route print. In fact, anything to do with networking, which Microsoft never really understood (always program for locally logged-in users; everyone else can use terminal server; etc).
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

This post smells of coming from a MS Trojan Horse. *Goes to read his other 2 (I'm sure extremely enlightening) posts*

Update: Just as I thought. 3 posts, one of which was banned; The other spewing a link to his anti-religious rhetoric. Now this. SR, how hard IS it to get banned from KF.net?

                        Ok,let us dissect the troll..
                        1. This is his 3rd post .... hmmm... didn't ask for a lot of help here, didn't he. Yet he feels compelled to shower us with his personal opinions and rants. Lucky us :|
                        2. Never is it mentioned which version of Kubuntu he is upgrading FROM and TO. He's able to tell you how far it got, but not what version or what it may have been getting caught up on. Then he proceeds to make nasty suggestions on what somebody should have done to them because Kubuntu didn't work on his shiny little box.
                        3. So he wrecked his OS and had to start from scratch but still has not provided any issue as to where exactly it is failing, or if he even checked his media. Plus he still leaves out the details, such as what kind of wifi "was removed".
                        4. It also failed for Mint and at least he is able to narrow it down to ext4. Did he ever try Ext3 instead?
                        5. rant (though problems with reconq and http does not sound like fun, but is unrelated to Ext3/Ext4)
                        6. rant
                        7. rant (still waiting for something intelligent)
                        8. now he's talking about his 27 years of Linux experience yet he cannot figure out how to ask for help in a forum? That's an awesome trick because according to Wikipedia
The defining component of Linux is the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released October 5, 1991 by Linus Torvalds.
Six years after this person with 3 posts started using Linux off-and-on.
                        9. He's been using Linux for 7 years longer than he's been installing Windows on people's computers. What was he using before? A Mac?
                        10. Oh, and he has to be "clever" by messing around with Microsoft's name. Like it grants any validity to spewing ranting?
                        11. Finished with generalized ranting and attacking the community with big-sounding-words
                        12. and he's gone.

Well I hope you all find this helpful, boys and girls, in detecting trolls on Forum Threads and remember

                        G'night.

(p.s. I may have only 11 posts in this forum, but please look up my account, same name, in Ubuntu Forums for a more accurate count )

Banned just now. Two vitriolic posts in a row are enough for me.
