Unable to access the internet after new router installation...

I'm a true newbie! I have my Acer on Ubuntu and my Thinkpad on Kubuntu. The Acer is fine, able to log on easily and no problems, however, the Thinkpad I'm having a very difficult time setting up the internet on the machine. Is there an easy step by step guide that I can use?

Need more info. Are you trying to connect to the router wired or wireless? Open a terminal and issue the command

ifconfig -a

and post the results.
