    installing software

Having overcome some problems that I encountered while installing Kubuntu I have now hit a brick wall with the following -

I downloaded the Linux NVIDIA drivers from thier web site and followed the installation instructions.

The installer gives the message that the ld command is required to run the installation and it cant find it, it also says its part of the binutils package.

So I download binutils and run the ./configure and it says it needs the gcc compiler program to intall and it cant find it

So I download "make" and "gcc" from the net and try to install them but the list of prerequisites required before installing gcc is long and meaningless to me.

Please tell me there is an easier way to install all this stuff

I am finding that getting things done in Linux really is hard work

    Is there some

Well, there is an easier way. This might help

Follow Method #1. You won't even need the driver you downloaded from NVIDIA.

    Good luck!
