KuBuntu in a windows AD environment?

    Hello,

Im fairly linux-able, running postFix server, debian F/S, SmoothWall. So a lil bit of stable use under my belt.

I run a educational instituation and i have a very sorry looking lab, stumbled across Kubuntu (which is probably the best example of open source for a good use ive ever seen).

Since i have this lab which is in need of a rebuild, and i now love kubuntu haha i see an opportunity. However there are certain aspects i need to address first, like authenitcated web access, file access to MS servers, single domain sing in (logon), Group Policy(? exisit or not in Kubuntu not sure).

Can kubuntu live in a MS ActiveDirectory environment and play nice?

    Thanks for the info!

I've never tried to make anything work with Active Directory, but if Debian will work with AD so will Kubuntu, because you'll just do it exactly the same way using pretty nearly the same packages. Follow the instructions in this HowTo from the Ubuntu Community Help Pages. It's a little out of date (July 2005), but it should still work.
