HP Pavilion dv 2500 Dummy Output Kubuntu 11.11

Hi there,

I am new in Kubuntu and I don't know why my playback devices are set to "Dummy Output". I really need to listen music. It is impossible for me keep writing my PhD thesis without music. Please any help would be aknowledge in my thesis .

check system settings>multimedia click the phonon tab and see whats thare




then the audio hardware setup tab and see what you see

well you dont half to .............but if you want you first upload them to a place like photobucket and then link them hear....

anyway do you have options in those setup areas that are not grayed out?

can you change them?

Ok VINNY:

On the "Device Preference tab", I have 3 devices: the first two are grayed out and they are:
"Internal Audio Analog Stereo"
"Internal Audio Digital Stereo(IEC958)", and
The one that is selected (no grayed):
"Dummy Output"

Then on the Audio Hardware Setup:
I can't select any Sound Card, it is grayed out.
Device Configuration:
Sound Device is active but with nothing

it would apear as though your audio card is not being loaded ......post the output of

lspci | grep -i audio

and

lsmod | grep -i snd

It has been randomly working after a clean installation. One bad day, it finally stopped working after hibernation.
