    Recommend a webcam for my Kubuntu Desktop?

    Hitting the computer store today and want to buy a webcam for the 11.10 desktop.

    Are there brands that are Linux friendly? Brands to avoid?

    Kubuntu seems to have no problems detecting everything else on my system, so hopefully this will be an easy upgrade.

    Although they were tested for Ubuntu 9 and 10, I found this page that might help...if your retailer carries these models.

      I have a logitech "HD Webcam C510" and it works great, though sadly there is (as far as I know) no existing live audio/video peer-to-peer capability, or any audio/video IM other than skype.

        I've had excellent results with the LogiTech C series: C200, C220, C240, C260, etc...

        The most recent one I purchased was the C260, and it is also the best of the series:

          ya my logitech works fine with Kubuntu.

          and works great with Gmail's video chat

            Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I'm going to go with Logitech. I was at Microcenter today and almost went with an unknown brand. Glad I didn't.
