I've only just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10. As I have a separate /home partition, I went for a clean install, and it was almost perfect, almost painless.
However, it's only 32bit, and I guess I should go to 64bit sooner or later.
This may be a stupid question, but can I "upgrade" to a 64bit version the same way, and as painlessly? In other words, keep the /home partition, and load 64bit 11.10 into /root partition in place of the 32bit 11.10?
Thanks
