Login resolution change and USB KB+mouse issues

Hi all! New to K and Linux in general but I'm loving the change. Just a couple of issues I'm having right now and not finding the solution anywhere.

Firstly my USB keyboard and mouse seem to get ignored or something during the login screen and a short period after I've logged in, works fine everywhere else including bios and both bootloaders, didn't notice it until after I partially fixed my resolution problems though that could be unrelated. Which is the next problem, Kubuntu was forgetting my display settings on logout or reset. I fixed my resolution resets by following this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...09&postcount=2
However the login screen defaults to the default low resolution for both of my displays. Here's my system info.

    HP Pavilion dv6000
LG 32LD4500 hooked up via VGA cable (using as primary display, laptop screen disabled)
    Kubuntu 11.10 Wubi install
    KDE 4.7.1
    Grub 0.97-29ubuntu64
    Intel Centrino 64bit 1833mhz
Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller
    4gb RAM
    1 internal 320gb, 1 external 3tb HD
    1 dvd-rw drive
Keyboard and mouse are the Logitech Wave package (K350 keyboard, M510 mouse)

    Thanks in advance!

The ~/.kde/share/config/startupconfig is read after you have logged in.

The https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution has how to make xrandr customizations permanent and before the log in (KDM greeter) screen.
