Need help with minecraft please

im new to kubuntu and after starting up minecraft and getting into my world all the graphics are really messed up and i keep getting this

is anyone able to help and if you need more information plz tell me what you need to know

I have no idea what that mean, but if your having trouble with minecraft, reinstall JRE & JDK (the official one, I heard that minecraft doesn't like the FOSS versions)

It's not a package in the Canonical repositories.

I did a web search, and my best guess is that this error may be triggered by badly coded mods. Make sure your Minecraft came from the official source, not untrustworthy third parties. Make a clean install without any mods and try again.

I haven't encountered this problem with Minecraft, so that's the best I can do besides suggesting a google search.

i tried what you both told me and its not working oh and the error is displayed in the terminal not like in the game window or anything

ok now i got the graphics fixed but now the game is running extremely slow and i know my computer can handle minecraft it played well when i played it on windows

In the conmand line of your menu entry start it this way.

java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

The workpath should point to where the minecraft.jar is located at.

It also helps if you have desktop effects and accelerated graphics active.

I'm having a blast with the game. The 1.0 release is now out and included an ending, plus a hardcore mode where the level is difficult and you can die only once.

i dont know how to turn on accelerated graphics and ive tried that command several times just keep getting that error again

I have both java-6-openjdk and sun-java6 installed, but my /etc/alternatives/java link is to:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java

which is what is used to run the minecraft jar.

Java-6-openjdk is in the repository.
