sound issues

Total newbie issue,

Just installed current Kubuntu on my HP Desktop and cant get the sound going.
Tried the phonon sound config a few ways but nothing. any good trouble-shooting docs out there?

The device viewer says I have HDA Invidia / internal soundcard

Mint didnt have the issue, I switched cuz I liked the Kubuntu desktop. (oops)

I ran comand line: sudo aplay -1

result is:
