Sound Problems on kubuntu 11.10

Hey everyone

I've started using kubuntu 11.10 , it was working fine at first

Until i plugged in my headphone, i couldn't hear anything

Then i unplugged it and still couldn't hear anything ... now i can't hear any sound in my kubuntu

I'm really confused cause it was alright before i plug in my headphone

if you guys have any suggestion how to fix this, i really appreciate it

I had this problem too. It is a bug in alsa package.

Download and install alsa deb package for oneiric from this ppa: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-a...aily/+packages and reboot your system.

Thanks man now i got the .dsc and tar.gz files but since im really new at these stuff

I have no idea how to install them , so could anyone help me out on this one

They are building new deb file right now. Check this ppa in a few hours and there will be deb file along .dsc and tar.gz files. Download deb file and install it. Deb is all what you need

Thanks man i really appreciate your help but it doesn't work i tried and installed as you said and reboot the system , but nothings changed.

i still can't hear any sound from my kubuntu

It may sound obvious but make sure the sound hasn't been muted. That the correct driver is selected to use when playing sounds (ie your soundcard rather than the one on your video card. Click on the loudspeaker icon on the task bar. Select mixer. Goto settings and then Audio setup From here you can check to see which driver is running and you can select a more appropriate one if necessary.

Ps it's always handy to post what specific hardware you're using
