Sound and MIDI in Kubuntu

Hi there,

I am fairly new to the whole Linux thing and completely new to Kubuntu. I recently installed Kubuntu in order to be able to run Pure Datahttp://pure-data.info. I am having trouble getting any sound out of Kubuntu at all. I am using an E-Mu 1212 soundcard which preciously under Suse appeared as a Creative Audigy and ran fine. I have also been lead to believe an application called Jack could solve all my problems. Is this correct?

Any pointers would be helpful

Start here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...dware_debuging I doubt that jack will actually solve all your problems, but it is available in the Universe repositories. Look for "jackd". If you need help acitvating the universe repo for your country, I'll be glad to help.
