Since the Network Support of 11.10 isn't created yet, I thought I would post this here.
Upgraded the computer to 11.10 from 11.04, and it was a very smooth transition.
Before the upgrade I had three folders shared so my wife's Win7 computer could access them.
Tonight I shared my "Music" folder on another driver (not the one in /home). From Dolphin I right clicked on the folder, properties/share and checked "share with Samba". I also checked "Allow guests", and gave everyone "read only". Selected OK, and closed dolphin.
Going to the Win7 computer, I noticed that "Music" wasn't appearing even after a refresh. But I could still access the three previous folders that where shared.
Going back to 11.10 computer, I noticed that the settings didn't apply when I shared the music folder, so I went through the steps again, then closed out Dolphin. Decided to verify it, so reopened Dolphin, and once again the settings didn't apply.
I went to the three folders that I was sharing before the upgrade. Off the three, only the "Public" in the /home correctly showed the little globe, and the right settings. Two other folders located on different drives showed no "globe", and the settings indicated that they were not shared.
However going back to the Win7 computer, I could easily access those folders.
Digging a little deeper, I've discovered that I can happily share anything in /home correctly. But the other folders all have the owner of "root". so that's why it's not applying apparently.
So I guess the question is, so I open Dolphin as root (kdesudo dolphin) and set it that way?
