Hi - I want to know how to play a sound from the console. I use CheckGmnail & when new mailturns up I'd like it to play a sound but don't know the command.
Frankly, the only way I know to produce a sound from the konsole is the to use the command beep. However, if you use kcheckgmail, you will probably be able to associate any sound you wish with the arrival of new mail. K>SystemSettings>Sound&Multimedia>SystemNotificati ons>EventSource>kcheckgmail(?) then select your sound. In days of yore, when I used kmail, I had Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, saying "You have mail". I suspect that you can do the same thing with kcheckgmail.
