Can't add input method to ibus

I'm not new to linux but relatively new to kubuntu. In ubuntu, I can add any input methods installed via synaptic to ibus freely but here, the input method list is greyed out. You can see in the screen shot. If anyone knows why, plz tell me because I really really need to use japanese input method.
Additional information: kubuntu 11.10, ibus 1.3.99

You're using a beta release.

I suggest you either install a release version or wait until Oct 15th for the release of 11.10.

If the problem continues, then you can file a bug report.
