When I did my re-installation I got to where I created sda4 in the manual partitioning, then I clicked 'Add' and there was no response so I just proceeded with the install. Below are my current fdisk -l and df -h out-puts in Konsole;

you do not half to point the installer to all your partitions just the ones you want the system to use at default ....../ is the minumum and /home is a + ........... after that the rest of the partitions can be added after the fact as you diside and nead..... and never do you point it at the extended part just the logical partitions in the extended.

I did not create the sda5 the installer did that automatically after I proceeded with the installation.

you must of marked the free space as /home or the installer would have put /home in /root.

I am confused by the 4 'none' entries in the df -h list, please help me understand what that is about.

dont wory about those ...thay are system related .

I am reading over my print-out of the G-Parted Manual in order to resize sda5 and create sda6 through sda11

shrink it to a more reasonable size and create what your after..... then all remounting/rearanging can be done in Kubuntu after the fact

Thx again Vinny, I'm struggling with fixing my video out-put, it is a long thread starter but I know I need to be patient for people to get of work or wake up on the other side of the world.
