MySQL, monitor and database server are different?

    Hi guys,
I installed Webmin today and when I try to go to the MySQL Database Server module, it asks me to login. When I use the same login I use for the MySQL monitor (which I've used many times and works fine), I get this error message:
    Code:
DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Now I dont feel like I'm grasping how exactly MySQL works. Is the mysql database server and the mysql monitor two different things?

    Thanks for any help,

    Erin
