install .bin ?

    install .bin ?

    I´ve just downloaded "PlaneShift"...
    It came along as "Planshift.bin". But how can I install this kind of software ending with *.bin ?

      Oops ubuntu forum seems to be down

      Through google cache:

      The binary provided has been compiled, if that is the correct term, (I'm not a programer), by a bloke known as Xordan. Xordan is the main Linux developer/maintainer for Planeshift, (to the best of my knowledge.

      Once youv'e downloaded the binary you'll need to make it executable by doing the following in a terminal.

      chmod +x (filename)

      Once this is done, you can run the file by using the following command

      ./ (filename)

      This will launch a nice graphical installer, (bitrock). Follow the prompts and you'll be playing Planeshift in no time at all.
