Im pretty new to Kubuntu and Linux as well, but i know how computers basically have to work.
My dad has a Toshiba A300J with an ATI Mobility HD3400 in it.
When i try installing or just running the LiveCD , Kubuntu runs into a blank screen and hangs itself.
Same thing happens if i install via text, except for the very first boot into KDE the screen shows a typical error for "Graphics driver screwed up".
I tried Mint, Kanotix and Ubuntu as well. Blank Screen.
Opensuse worked perfectly, installation and everything else. But i dont want Opensuse if i can have Kubuntu.
On Top: i remember i installing Ubuntu 11.04 months ago, and it worked perfectly, installing from Live. That leaves an unsure feeling if the preparation of the md5sum checked media has something to do with this. Could this mess up the installation parameters?
Same thing didnt work today with a proper burned cd (which should be the same image i used months ago). Got the Menue. Live and Install ->Blank Screen. Hung himself.
No. Its definitely not an hardware problem: Opensuse and Windows 7 work perfectly. RAMs fine. Media are md5sum checked.
i stumbled upon this : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/763909
though i tried both, i386 and amd64 i think its the same problem
I know im not the only one having this Problem.
Can anyone help me with this? Is there a working workaround, understandable for Newbies?
Thanks, and sorry for my english.
