I use Skype, the input works fine, but when i call people it always plays the output through the laptop speakers instead of the usb headphone. I have tried changing all the settings in pulse audio device chooser and the system settings, but i cant make it work. Can someone help?

Re: Skype and USB headphone
I haven't used Skype on Linux, but perhaps Skype's own audio configuration allows you to select audio inputs and outputs? If so, perhaps that will help.
I've experimented with various SIP softphones. I've never had success with Phonon's "device preference" tab -- no matter what I select for "communications," the only usable sound sources are my laptop's built-in speakers and microphone. The only softphone with its own audio controls that actually work is Twinkle, so that's the one I use.

Re: Skype and USB headphone
While I'm hesitant to recommend this, many people -- especially KDE users -- prefer to operate without PulseAudio. Here's a guide originally written for Lucid and Maverick that describes how to remove it. Folks have reported in the comments section how do the same for Natty. Some also discuss how it helped their Skype problems; others mention that the solution worked only partially. FWIW, you aren't alone...Google reports about 211,000 results for a search on +pulseaudio +ubuntu +skype; maybe somewhere in there lies a solution?
