Could not find the program Konqueror

    KMail Version 1.13.6
    KDE Platform Version 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
    Konqueror Version 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
    Kubuntu Natty 64 bit

I have no idea what I might have done to create this problem. When I open an email that contains a link to a website and click on the link, an error message appears containing the following: Could not find the program 'Konqueror'

Vaguely I remember wanting konqueror as my default browser; I probably ticked that choice, but cannot remember where I did that, if that is the case.

I have reviewed KMail configuration and Konqueror configuration but find no option to make Konqueror my default browser. Under Default Applications of System Settings selecting the Web Browser, I have typed in Konqueror as the default. I believe this is where I made the above mentioned ticked choice.

I don't understand why that would create the "Subject" error message, however prior to that ReKonq automatically opened, and Rekonq has been a crash problem since I installed Natty. I also have Firefox installed on my system; I could name that as default, however, I prefer Konqueror. How do correct the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help. PS: Googling the error message did not provide anything useful.

Re Could not find the program Konqueror

Did you type Konqueror or konqueror?

If you're addressing a menu item, caps won't matter but if your addressing the program executable Konqueror does not equal konqueror.

I did not type in the word at all. I would have used lower case if that was the case. The problem comes when I get an email that includes a link to a website. My computer apparently defaults to Konqueror automatically yet does not recognize the program, and I cannot find where to change the configuration so that it will default to another browser. I assume Firefox will work. In the subject line, that is what shows on the screen when I click on any link that appears in a received email. I looked in Kmail configuration; I looked in Konqueror configuration. I would prefer that Konqueror was my default for all conditions, however, I can't find a place to make that the default designation. Maybe I am confused, but Konqueror works fine, when I choose it from KMenu; I don't understand why it is not recognized when I click on a link provided in an email (Kmail).

Re Could not find the program Konqueror

The default browser settings is in System Settings> Default Applications> Browser.

The other place worth checking is System Settings> File Associations> text> html

or right clicking on a saved webpage (html) and selecting Properties, then the little wrench icon, then you get a window that has default programs.

The entry selected is ID'd by a radio button I ticked "in the following browser:. Then in the box, I originally typed in "Konqueror". Should that have been the lower case 'k'?

This may be where the correction will work. Originally, rekonq caused the problem, so I changed to Konqueror in 'Default Applications'. I have not, until today, even looked at this option, but it looks like the solution. I will have to receive an email that I can test to see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for your patience. I followed your instructions. It indicated that Konqueror was the first choice. I then made Firefox my second choice, but no positive result was found. When I attempted a link from an email the same warning appeared, "Could not find the program, 'Konqueror'"

I am not sure I understand the instruction here. The problem I am trying to fix occurs in "received email links". Is that what I right-click on? Sorry to be so dense, my friend.

          Thank you.

This comment is after moving Konqueror to the top position in file associations. I returned to Kmail where I had an ad from Newegg. When I clicked on "see all deals", I got the same error message, "Could not find the program 'Konqueror', so the solution still eludes me. Thanks anyway. When your 3rd response is answered I will try that solution.
