[Solved]accesting linux formatted HDD from windows 7

I'm dual booting Windows 7 and Kubuntu 10.04, each on separate hard drives. Once booted up in Kubuntu I can access the Windows hard drive, but can't access the Kubuntu hard drive while booted up in Windows. Is there an easy way to do this. I was hopping to use ITunes to to add music to my stubborn Ipod nano from my kubuntu hard drive, or is virtual box the only way I can get away with this?

    Ext2FSD or Ext2Read

They each have their own dis/advantages but it gets the job done from the Windows side.
    Home: Kubuntu 12.04-amd64; Intel i7-860 on Intel DH55PJ; Nvidia 9500GT; 6GB RAM
Network Slave: Xubuntu 11.10-x86; Intel P4-Prescott on MSI; 2GB RAM; Nvidia FX5200
Portable: Xubuntu 11.10-amd64; Asus EeePC 1015PEM

You could create a music directory on your windows drive and link to it from your kubuntu home.

That way you can access all the music files from both OS's

How would I go about linking them if stupid windows won't recognize my other HDD? Would I have to use Ext2FSD ir Ext2Read to do this?

you need to install a driver for windows that understands the format of the disk (ext4? ) there was last time i used windows an ext3 driver that i could use to mount those disks. you will have to use the MMC disk management snap in to mount them after you have the driver (or again last time i had windows i needed to do that.)

Well, winblows won't have to recognise your linux install at all - keep the music on the windows drive.

Kubuntu will have no trouble reading and writing to the windows drive.

            Simply:
Mount the windows drive (might as well make it a permanent mount in fstab) for example to /mnt/windows

Move all your music files from the kubuntu drive to /mnt/windows/"Documents and Settings"/<YOURUSERNAMEONWINDOWS>/Documents/Music (or whatever the correct directory is).

Delete the Music folder from your /home directory on kubuntu.

Open a terminal and type ln -s /mnt...(same location as above) ~/Music

            Done.

                  rofl...

Technically, since it was windows-vs.-kubuntu it counts as a "Kubuntu" problem, so it's all good.

No problem anyway since most of us are here to help - not judge... 8)
