If you have hardware that is "reasonable" in terms of not being TWENTY YEARS OLD...
.or BOUGHT TOMORROW IT IS SO NEW....... 
Kubuntu and Libre Office should work. Go for it.
If you have hardware that is waaay old or SO NEW THAT IT IS NOT EVEN IN THE CATALOGUE YET!!! then .....ask....and you shall drink from the font of information that the highly experienced people of Kubuntu forums can provide.....
Ummmmm however, not much from moi...I'm just a hardware and applications kinda guy!!!
