    Sound issues / Creative X-Fi

Hi I installed Kubuntu today through "wubi". I prefer it to Ubuntu. In Ubuntu to activate my Creative X-Fi card all I have to do is unmute Center/sub in Alsamixer. This is the same in Kubuntu. But when I go to the GUI section that let's me configure it to 5.1 output and I test the speakers there is no sound.

Music, movies, work in Dragon player but it sounds different to my Windows 7.

There is no sound in VLC.

when I run this console command:

    speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twav

everything is correct. Center rear front sub.

What could be the issue? in Phonon there is no sound, in VLC no sound. and Dragon player seems to play center somewhat muffled. All of this does not happen on Ubuntu. But in ubuntu the videos lag. But thats another story, mabye related to wubi. But I wouldnt blame this issue on it. This is 11.04 btw.

I hope someone can help. Onboard audio sucks.

    In a Konsole run
    sudo alsamixer
and check to make sure the PCM and Digital sliders are at the top.
