SOLVED: Problems setting up new user account

    Hi there

Having recently reinstalled Kubuntu and got everything back to the way I want it, I am now trying to set up a user account for the boys

I've done this countless times in the past but when I tried to do it today, I keep on getting this message when I try to log in:

"You Are Required To Change Your Password Immediately (Root Enforced)"

I then get a pop up requesting me to enter the new password twice but as I try to type, nothing happens in the password field

There is more information about this in the following bug report:
    http://markmail.org/message/q3exnoqhn3r3lv22

    Grateful for your advice

    Cheers

    Raaj

When the gui is goofed try with the command line.

When you have made the new user account, start the virtual terminal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_console (Ctrl+Alt+F2). Log in with the new user information - change the password and exit the session.

Re: Problems setting up new user account

I ran in to the same problem. The following steps got me through it...
When prompted to enter the new password simply press OK or Accept leaving the fields blank.
You will be told to reenter the information at which point you will be able to type in the password.

Thanks for the advice folks; much appreciated

I tried Gespenst's suggestion first and it worked
