I was using Ubuntu 10:10 and upgraded today to 11.04
However, I had major problems with Ubiquity, even with the classic desktop, even with the effects turned off
I then decided to return to KDE by doing sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop which worked fine
I then thought I would dump Gnome but clearly ended up deleting too much as I am now booting into darkness
I did sudo apt-get install --reinstall kubuntu-desktop and same again for kdm but no change
I then tried to sudo dolphin and got this message:
Cannot find the d-bus sesion server: "//bin/d-bus-launch terminated abnormally with the following error: autolaunch error: x11 initialisation failed"
So, have I deleted display drivers or something?
Grateful for your advice..have exams next week and desperate to access key documents
