    Kaffiene/Dragonmedia player often fails in opening .mpg files

    I'm using Kubuntu 10.10, with KDE4.6.2 and I prefer Dragonplayer or Kaffiene as my media player for watching movies. That stated, whenever I attempt to play a .mpg file, it crashes a little over half the time. I'm not sure if this is an issue with Kaffiene alone, or with the file itself. But the only time I can play these files is when using VLC, which I dislike for several reasons. Any advice suggestions for how to make it a 100% success? I have the basic 'kubuntu-restricted-extras' installed on my computer, plus some other additional libraries collected through the months. Any help is appreciated.
